MPMM extension
MPMM extension
The MPMM is expanding! The MPMM, which has been housed in the prestigious Maison espagnole since 2008, has been unable to accommodate its visitors in the right conditions and carry out its various educational, scientific and conservation missions.
It was for this reason that, in 2009, the City of Dinant acquired the so-called Monin house, located right next to the Maison du patrimoine médiéval mosan, on the Place du Bailliage in Bouvignes, with the intention of expanding the MPMM's premises. The purchase was made with the help of European FEDER funds.
After several postponements and a lengthy administrative process, and thanks to an ambitious financial package, the work can now begin. Groundbreaking is scheduled for early October. The town is once again benefiting from European financial aid from FEADER funds, supplemented by support from Wallonia (Tourism and Heritage) and the Wallonia-Brussels Federation.
The new space in the renovated and enlarged Maison Monin will be used in particular for group reception, events, disabled access, the documentation center and the association's administrative offices. Other activities, such as the promotion of coppersmithing and ceramics linked to the site's origins, should also find a place there.
The work will also make it possible to build a multi-purpose space for meetings, conferences and other events. This extension will be built as an extension to the existing house, along rue des potiers.
The space freed up in the current Maison espagnole, notably the attic under the beautiful 16th-century roof structure, will be used to welcome visitors, who will enjoy a magnificent view over the small town of Bouvignes and the Dinant hills.
